TYPES OF TEAMS
Note: All K9’s are taught agility and obedience as part of their training
curriculum.
NARCOTICS DETECTION
Narcotic Detection handlers have a choice of breed and sex. Canines are
trained to detect the following standard narcotics: marijuana, cocaine and all cocaine derivatives, heroin, opium, amphetamine,
and methamphetamine. Agencies can choose to eliminate or add narcotic odors at random. Handlers will be taught how to add
new odors and proof them. The K9 will work in both vehicle and building settings. The K9 will be comfortable with traffic
conditions and roadside vehicle stop/scans.
PATROL
Patrol handler’s can choose Shepherd (German,
Czech, Dutch, Belgian) or Malinois. Patrol dogs are taught all aspects of handler/public protection but will remain relatively
social unless otherwise requested. Dogs will be trained to track both urban and rural environments and will complete tracks
at lengthy time delay and/or quick dropouts. Patrol dogs will complete building searches for suspect in both light available
and complete darkness.
DUAL PURPOSE
All dual-purpose dogs will incorporate patrol training - along with
a detection ability (narcotic, explosives, or other).
EXPLOSIVES DETECTION
Explosives detection K9’s
are trained and certified to levels of scent, alert, and control that will meet not only ASCT’s strict requirements
but also be trained to the levels of those of ATF, and Lackland Air Force Base. Explosives K9’s are trained and proofed
to detect all high grade and low grade explosives of both military and commercial quality. Our K9’s will also detect
chlorates, oxidizers, and nitrates. K9 teams will be certified for explosives detection for all public facilities, vehicles,
schools, and buildings.
ACCELERANT DETECTION
Teams are certified for 17 accelerant odors of both burned
and active components.
CADAVER RECOVERY
Cadaver dogs are taught to recovery materials from all three stages
of decomposition and at multi levels.
BLOODHOUND
Teams are specificly taught tracking from a speed and recovery
technique system that roots back to the original Bloodhound teams of the 1930's.
